[Review] Slap: Frost (Sensation Energy)
Hello… Thanks for checking out this part of the can. No exotic story, just the facts. Great taste and better ingredients… we’ll just call that a given.
FROST – Just a clever name? No… we’ve added a unique chilling ingredient. As you drink, the sensation builds. So there you have it. An energy drink that tastes great, is loaded with “ENERGY9.0″, has better ingredients and keeps you going. Now isn’t that what energy drinks were created for?
Review:
Things kick off on the right foot with a pleasant aroma, one that is apparent but far from overwhelming. The scent is very sweet with just a hint of sour, balanced very well as to make your mouth water. What the drink is supposed to smell like isn’t made clear anywhere on the can since the flavor is simply “Frost,” but hopefully I can figure it out when I taste it. Right now it seems like it may be a twist of citrus and grape, or something along those lines. Some kind of berry perhaps? Oh well, I’m not worried. Slap has yet to steer me wrong and I’m sure Frost will be just as pleasant as its sisters.
With the first gulp it becomes immediately clear where this flavor of Slap got its name. The liquid has some chemical trait that provides a very unique and pleasant chilling sensation in your mouth and throat. It’s really very neat, in all honesty. Think of Frost as being the polar (no pun intended) opposite of Cocaine, which delivers a warming sensation when drank. The flavor is still not very clear, though it does seem to be grape. It is a very delicious taste regardless of what it is, and is very highly refreshing, especially mixed with the cooling trait. A complaint I would like to file against Frost is that it leaves a bit of an aftertaste that, while not necessarily gross or anything, would be better off not existing.
The slap line has already proven itself to provide a competent kick, with its effective Energy 9.0 formula. It’s something that I’ve grown to trust and be comfortable with, based entirely on previous experiences with the drinks. Therefore, when the time came for me to indulge myself deep within a marathon gaming session of Red Dead Redemption for the Xbox 360, I knew Frost would probably be my best bet. I sipped on the drink, and about 20 minutes after starting the can I could feel a bit of a boost. I managed to pace myself through the beverage, making it last about an hour and a half. It wasn’t until about five hours later that I finally had to turn in and hit the sack.
Slap Frost Sensation Energy comes packaged in an industry standard 16 oz, 2-serving can for $1.99. Throw in the great aroma and flavor, not to mention the one-of-a-kind chilling sensation, as well as an excellent kick and you’ve got yourself quite the bargain.
Final Words:
Slap Frost is a very unique drink. It possesses a unique trait that I’ve never experienced in an energy drink in the form of the chilling sensation it causes in the back of your throat and in your mouth. It certainly isn’t flawless by any stretch of the word, but there isĀ much more good than bad. In fact, there are very few flaws with this well-executed beverage. I highly recommend checking it out.
